Fire and Explosion Investigations is proud to welcome Michael W. Riley to our team as a Fire Investigator serving Massachusetts and the surrounding New England region. Mike brings more than two decades of experience in law enforcement, fire scene investigations, and public safety leadership. Prior to joining Fire and Explosion Investigations, Mike served with the Massachusetts State Police from 2000 through 2025, where he rose through the ranks to Captain and held numerous leadership and investigative assignments throughout his distinguished career.

Mike’s extensive background in fire and explosion investigations includes years assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Section, where he served as both Unit Commander and Clandestine Lab Enforcement Team Commander. Throughout his career, he has investigated a wide range of complex fire scenes, testified as an expert witness in court proceedings, and completed advanced training in fire origin and cause investigations, explosives recognition, post-blast investigations, hazardous materials, and NFPA standards. He holds nationally recognized certifications through both the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) and the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), reflecting his commitment to professionalism and investigative excellence.

In addition to his investigative experience, Mike holds a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. His leadership, professionalism, and technical expertise make him a tremendous asset to our company and our clients.
