Robert Pinder joined Fire & Explosion Investigations in January 2020. Mr. Pinder has over 28 years of professional fire service and 10 years of Fire Investigation experience. During this time, he has held several roles including: Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, SCBA Technician, Lieutenant in Fire Suppression, Lieutenant in Marine Division, Hazardous Material Technician, and Fire/Explosion Investigator. Duties performed during these roles included: Pre-incident planning, fire code inspections, fire suppression, team leader, lead instructor, vehicle and vessel maintenance, fire cause and origin determination. He also has experience in building construction, natural gas and propane services.
Mr. Pinder is a Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) and Evidence Collection Technician (IAAI-ETC) through the International Association of Arson Investigators, a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (NAFI-CFEI) through the National Association of Fire Investigators, and a Certified Fireplace and Chimney Inspector through the Fire Investigation Research & Education Service (F.I.R.E). He is a Licensed Private Investigator in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. He is licensed in Natural Gas and Propane Delivery, Installation, and Appliance Service through the State of Maine and for Gas Service in New Hampshire.
Mr. Pinder has an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Fire Science, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Kaplan University. He has also attended the National Fire Academy and completed courses in Fire/Arson Origin and Cause Investigations, Interview, Interrogation Techniques and Courtroom Testimony, Forensic Evidence Collection, and Practical Application of Fire Dynamics and Modeling. He has completed numerous educational seminars and continued education courses in the field of fire investigation.
Mr. Pinder has professional affiliations with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). He has held seats as: Board of Director, Vice-President, and President of the Maine Chapter of International Association of Arson Investigators. He has been locally recognized for his efforts by receiving the Firefighter of the Year Award, Administrative Service Award, Esprit de Corps Award, Community Service Award, and Officer of the Year Award from the City of Portland.
